As optical networks evolve beyond the traditional C-band, power optimization becomes increasingly complex. The LOGO approach has been a reliable method for determining optimal signal launch power within the C-band. However, as we expand into multi-band transmission, new challenges arise:
🔹 Frequency-dependent modeling is required to accurately represent multi-band fibre transmission.
🔹 Amplifier variations across different spectral bands lead to unique noise figure (NF) characteristics.
🔹 Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) significantly impacts power evolution and non-linear interference (NLI).
In the ALLEGRO project , we explore advanced techniques to optimize amplifier settings across multiple spectral bands. Recent research focuses on refining gain, output power, and tilt configurations for different amplifiers and spectral conditions. These advancements are crucial for maximizing spectral efficiency and network performance in next-generation optical systems.
Let’s collaborate and push the boundaries of optical network optimization! 🚀💡
